Outdoors

Children at jolly Jesters playing in playgroundThere has been a lot of talk in the media about childhood obesity citing playing inside as a major contributor. This is one reason we put such an emphasis on playing outside in the fresh air on a daily basis. In addition young children especially need the broad experiential base provided in an outdoor context. We have carefully designed our outdoor space to be developmentally appropriate and so meet the needs of the child.

Under the guidance of our highly qualified and trained staff children will discover vital building blocks for literacy, science learning, collaboration and emotional well being.

No child likes to be kept indoors. So at Jolly Jesters we have created an exciting large outdoor play area. The Education Board has commended this as a uniquely ‘outstanding’ learning space. Our boys and girls can use their creativity, imagination, and take risks within a safe, supervised environment and explore it to their heart’s content!

Our outdoor space is divided into distinct separate play areas with the addition of covered areas so that all children can play safely outside all year round.

The extensive outdoor soft play area for the baby and toddlers enables staff to take the children out each day without fear of crossing busy roads or sore knees.

Our large pirate ship, train, tree house, mud kitchen, and wooden houses, children’s imagination just flourishes. Children expend a lot of energy on our swings, slides, climbing frames and wooden obstacle courses. There is no end of fun; exploration and discovery in our two large (covered) sand pits as well as our mud and nature area.
